We spent our 4th day out west at Zion National Park in Utah and it was amazing! It was so pretty and not nearly as hot as the previous parks we had visited. We could both tell how it got its name. When we first entered the park , we came across a field of buffalo...just as the Start Spangled Banner started playing on the radio. This was a truly American Experience... :-) We started out taking the park buses past all of the trail heads. At the end of the line, we got out and then hiked up to a part of the canyon called "The Narrows." Park officials deemed the hike "safe" because there was no chance of rain and, therefore, no chance of flash floods. The Narrows is a higher part of the canyon where the rock hasn't been eroded as much as at the bottom of the canyon (where the river bed was very wide). There were some parts of the narrows where the river was waist deep and the only way past was through it.
