We just got back from our trip to Egypt. It was awesome!!!! We started in Cairo and then took a cruise up the Nile. We just scratched the surface of all there is to see there. Although, you could probably spend a lifetime there and still not see it all. Harper was such a trooper. She really liked riding in the backpack. We carried her around like the Queen of Egypt. We're not sure how impressed she was with the antiquities :-)
Philae Temple in Aswan. It was actually underwater for 70 years after the English built a dam on the Nile in 1900. In the 70s, there was a $15 million project to relocate the entire temple to a man made island nearby the original site. They moved and reconstructed the entire temple stone by stone.
While we were there, several tourists asked to take their picture with us. One time, a family even asked Sarah to hold their son for a picture. He was super cute and had even gotten a mini shumagh for a souvenir.
Sarah, Harper, and me in Edfu Temple in front of a statue of Horus.
Harper really enjoyed and got lots of use out of the monogrammed hat that she got from my boss in West Palm. Thank you Larry and Heidi!
These were some guys I bargained with for a sheesha for a guy on the boat.
Harper was a celebrity on the boat!
Harper and her mom cruising on the Nile.
The scenery along the Nile was amazing and it looked like life has not changed much over time. You can understand how the Nile was the life of the country and the reason civilzation could flourish.
Te Collossi of Memnon.
The Colors were amazing in the Temple of Queen Hatshetsup.
